I hope Johnson gets a game tonight, I need some football to watch that has a West Ham angle.

Faux Bare that’s a very Spursy way of looking at things…..a bit like everyone only remembering Tottenham coming third in a 2 horse race for the title…..

That's true, mind you I did say I might be wrong! Maybe it's just unexplainable. England failed to qualify throughout the 70's and English teams did fairly well in Europe and certainly at the start of the 80's.

Well we regarded the early WC's as a pathetic joke until 1954. When England just agreed to play the winners. In that time Italy won two WC's. Then the embarrassment started. No1 under performers in Football no question

Yeah, I don't think England have much bragging rights over Italy with regard to international trophies, sadly!

2018 semi final - Kane misses a sitter at 1-0 & England slump 2021 final - Kane is cooked after an hour and the beardy fool Southgate has picked 6 spare right backs instead of Antonio to come on and win it
Bigger disaster is that its unlikely that Australia will fail to qualify for the first time in 20 years. Defeat to Japan ends automatic qualification so will be in a one off play off against the 3rd place finisher in the other group (probably UAE). Win that and its a playoff against the 5th placed S Americans ....Peru at the moment but could be Colombia or Chile. Unlikely against any of those as they have a pretty dismal team at the moment

“maybe over celebrating being champions of europe?”
That’s gone and forgotten mate. Just like how hardly anyone remembers that Portugal were the European Champions.
Failing to qualify for the WC (twice) is unforgivable.

maybe over celebrating being champions of europe?
you know what its like when you win a tournament the hard way - beating the best teams in it - must be hard to motivate yourself after that?? oh no you wouldn't understand that feeling would you?
or just maybe they missed some simple opportunities to qualify and lack attacking options.
either way.

What do you blame ItaLOL’s inability to qualify for World Cups on, goose?

as (EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS) Italy aren't there I won't be 'supporting' anyone.
I'm not convinced you can blame England's inability to win tournaments on exhaustion. 2018 semi final 2021 final
both golden opportunities that they bottled. being a Spurs fan you'd be familiar with that happening.

“why does November suit England?”
Because most of our players play in the PL, which is the most physically demanding league in the world.
So our players won’t be physically exhausted like they usually are when they’re coming off the back of a full season of PL football.
Will you be supporting England seeing as ItaLOL failed to qualify, goose?

Say what you like about the WC but simply put we see no inter continental football hardly ever that means anything The WC provides this. Probably deliberately. I will happily sit down and watch a game between Japan and Cameroon

Really fancy England to win the World Cup.
It being in November will suit us.
Still, at least Italy can look forward to the FINALISSIMA.

England's huge achilles heel in big games has been taking the lead (too?) early and then not being able to hold on to it. Often ending up losing in ET or on pens
Euro 96 semi WC 98 Argentina WC 02 Brazil Euro 04 QF Euro 16 ICELAND FFS WC 18 semi Euro 20 final
In all those games we scored first or early on, or were ahead early on, only to lose eventually.
Piss poor record, really.
